What is "photograph archiving" and how can I benefit"?
Here in the 21st century, most of our lives are documented online through social media. The digital world is only getting larger and if you want to share anything with loved ones, you just snap a photo on your smart phone and upload it. Many young people don’t even have photo albums because everything is viewed on a screen. This is good for convenience and for sharing, but not so good for the photographs that were made prior to digital.
Maybe you have stacks of photos from your family that are sitting in shoe boxes and old deteriorating albums that no one sees. Many of these pictures have been passed down from your parents, grandparents and even great grandparents. My services will organize your photographic collection, digitize it, and build a photo library for fast access. If you have sensitive or deteriorating documents or photographs, I am able to preserve most printed media, film, tintype and even glass plate negatives, with archival storage.
My clients have included estates, company archives and photograph collections. I am now offering this for the everyday family who wants to pass down their family history in an organized way, that can be given to every family member on a flash drive.
Pricing: Each project is unique to a customer. I will quote according to the number of images you have, the services required and storage devices needed. An estimated turnaround time will be given with the quote.
What makes me the choice to do this work for you? My background is working with photographs in different capacities for nearly 30-years. I hold an MFA in Photography and have continued professional development in photo preservation with Northeast Document and Conservation Center and the George Eastman Museum. My experience is broad, yet specialized in several specific areas. Photo preservation is one of them.
